National Honor Society
I pledge myself to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been selected. Striving in every way to make its ideals the ideals of my school and my life. I will be true to the principles for which it stands; and maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship.
There are five characteristics required for membership into the Burke Chapter of the National Honor Society: knowledge, scholarship, leadership, character, and service.
The application for the Society only requires evidence of leadership and service, since only those students who meet the scholarship and character requirements are invited to apply.
At least one activity must be with an organization NOT affiliated with Burke High School. School-related activities may include but are not limited to: any Burke High sport, any academic related club, student government, hockey club, drama productions, mock trial, state track volunteer.
An accumulation of 30 hours of service in at least 4 different activities is required. Community service activities may include, but are not limited to: church activities, volunteer work (no pay), political campaign volunteering, volunteer teaching, and hospital or assisted living volunteering.
