National Honor Society

NHS Pledge

I pledge myself to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been selected. Striving in every way to make its ideals the ideals of my school and my life. I will be true to the principles for which it stands; and maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship.

Application Guidelines

There are five characteristics required for membership into the Burke Chapter of the National Honor Society: knowledge, scholarship, leadership, character, and service.

Applications for the 2019-2020 School Year have closed.

Students who have met the requirements to join for the 2020-2021 school year will be notified in February of 2020 by letter from the Burke NHS. The letter will include all requirements for applications.

On the application a student will need to have 20 hours of community service. At least one activity must be with an organization NOT affiliated with Burke High School. School-related volunteer activities may include but are not limited to: any Burke High sport volunteer activities, any academic related club volunteer activities, state track volunteer, or any Burke High club volunteer activities.

Possible community service activities may include, but are not limited to: church activities, volunteer work (no pay), political campaign volunteering, volunteer teaching, and hospital or assisted living volunteering.
